The Dumfries and Galloway Canine Rescue centre was set up by a group of local people in August 2001. The purpose of the charity is to rescue, care for, and rehome stray, maltreated, and unwanted dogs.
The charity raises funds through subscriptions, donations, sales from its charity shops in Dumfries, Dalbeattie and Annan, and other fund raising events. Click here for further information about our organisation, and to meet our committee members. |
We run four charity shops; one in Dumfries at 3 Old Union Street which is opposite the Solicitor's Property Centre near Mid-Steeple, one in Bank Street Annan, one at Dashwood Square, Newton Stewart and one at the Round House in Dalbeattie. The shops offer marvellous bargains in clothes, bric-a-brac, toys, household items and much more. They also provide information on the events being organised and dogs waiting for homes. The shops are open from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday apart from Newton Stewart which is closed on a Wednesday. We also occasionally take our shops on the road, taking over vacant property elsewhere or organising a mammoth jumble sale - watch out for the posters. |
