This mural (above) by local artist Susie Elder is on the wall of the reception block. It reminds all who work and visit the centre of its purpose to rehome stray, unwanted and mistreated dogs. Who will be homeward bound today?
The day begins with the necessary but unglamorous task of cleaning out the kennels.
The next event is far more exciting as it is feeding time. The kitchen also contains the essential information on which dog is where and their state of health.
One of our volunteers, Liz, is hard at work in reception sorting out the homefinder forms completed by visitors who want to have a rescue dog.

Once breakfast is over, the dogs are ready for anything! Cheeky is on full throttle as she rushes out of her night kennel onto her run to bombard her visitor with kisses.
During the day, the dogs may have walks, play with other dogs or humans, training, grooming, health checks and veterinary treatment-so it's all go!
There are also all the chores to do like the washing. We have a large washing machine and tumble dryer in in our laundry which makes the job easier. Other chores involve cleaning, sorting toys, blankets and so on, maintenance tasks, and washing up the feeding bowls. There are also a large number of administrative tasks to be done. |
