Kip was brought to us by the dog warden after he was found straying - or abandoned - in the Kirkpatrick Fleming area. He was with us for 4 months, with not a sniff of interest from anyone wanting to adopt him so we were delighted when someone finally came forward for him. Sadly, after two months, Kip's owner had a relapse of a previous health problem and Kip had to be returned. Next, Kip was briefly rehomed with a couple with a young daughter. This time Kip was returned because of his behaviour. An unwitnessed bite occurred on the child but the parents are fairly sure that it was neither provoked, nor malicious on Kip's part - they think he got overexcited in play and nipped accidentally.
He is a wonderfully friendly young dog with a big personality. Try as we might, Kip is not photogenic, so on all the photos we take of him, he always looks stern - and he's anything but! Kip is a boisterous boy who loves rough and tumble play, so would NOT suit a family with younger children. Another dog in the household would possibly need to be a steady female that could play with him, but also be able to tell him that enough is enough. Kip can not be trusted around livestock, so he'd need to be in a secure garden if he were to find his new home in the countryside. He has also shown a very strong desire to chase cars, and is a strong dog, so his adopter will need to work on this with advice from us. Kip needs to be restrained for car travel, and is crate-trained indoors as he is still young enough to scratch at doors and steal from worktops. Kip is a lovely but lively and cheeky dog who needs an owner who will train him using rewards and motivate him to bring out his best.
