The Lochans Dog Show

Monday, 23rd March 2020

We had a terrific day on Saturday March 14th at the rescue centre’s dog show in Lochans Community Hall near Stranraer.  Despite poor weather and all the worry about coronavirus, there was an excellent attendance.  It was especially rewarding to meet owners who had never been to a dog show before and to see how well the dogs behaved.

The rescue centre would like to thank all the volunteers who made the show such a success and the generosity of the participants.  This meant that the show raised £319 to help care for the rescue dogs at the centre.

The classes were judged by the centre’s manager Emma Patterson.  She had a really hard job to sort out her prize winners in each of the eight fun classes. The winners of the classes are listed below:-

Handsomest dog  -  Rocco -  Doue de Bordeaux (French mastiff) -  Jordan from Stranraer

Prettiest bitch - Riley - Jack Russell terrier cross - Sophie from Stranraer

Golden Oldie (dogs over 10 years)  - Molly - Cocker spaniel cross (13 years) - Lesley from Minigaff

Shining example of health and happiness - Cliff - Basset hound - Fiona from Kirkcolm

Best cross breed - Blaze - Lurcher - Jolene from Stranraer

Waggiest tail - Cooper - Springer spaniel - Dax from Newton Stewart

Best rescue - Sooty - Poodle cross - Jean from Sandhead

Dog the judge would most like to take home - Martha - Labrador retriever - Fin from KIrkcolm

Well done everyone – a splendid day!  It was so nice to have some fun with such nice people and dogs amidst all the gloomy news at present.

We hope to see you all again at our fun dog show in Newton Stewart at 1.00pm on Sunday October 11th.
