Cheeky, Independent Chap, with a great love for toys !

Cuddles is an 11yr old male neutered JRT cross Shih Tzu. When he came to us his coat was very matted so he has had a short back and sides! presently he is being acclimatised to being groomed which at times he does enjoy.

He is cautious when he first meets you, but you can soon win him round with some tasty treats. It will take time for him to trust a new owner so they would need to be prepared to come to the centre a few times to meet him and spend time with him.

He loves a walk, but is always happy to get back to his bed and his very large collection of toys, his preferred toy is a ball, but he is happy to collect any toy he comes across.  Cuddles loves his home comforts and is very happy spending time in his bed surrounded by his toys.  Once he gets to know you and feels confident around you, he is a playful, fun, and very loving little character who loves nothing more than fuss and attention.

History

Cuddles came to us after his owner went in to care.

Re-homing Criteria

Cuddles would prefer a quite home as an only dog. A home with an older person/couple with no children under 16yrs. Although Cuddles needs to be the only dog in his home, he is tolerant of other dogs out on walks, and quite happily walks out with our other dogs here at DGCRC.

We have no history of him living with a cat, so consideration would need to be given if you have a cat.

We feel Cuddles has had a difficult past, and this occasionally comes through in his behaviour, therefore a patient, understanding home that will give him space when he needs it, will be ideal for Cuddles.

He has a lot of terrier breed traits, so a home with terrier experience would be preferred, but not essential.
