Small, tough, no-nonsense girl

If terriers are your thing, Poppy could be your next companion. Small and charmingly scruffy, she has the bold, inquisitive, gimlet-eyed personality typical of the terrier breeds. Poppy may be diminutive, but has a plus-size personality. She can cover quite a distance on her short legs and would love someone to take her out and about whatever the weather.

She walks well on the lead and likes to mix with other dogs, provided that they treat her with respect. If a dog barks at her, she may respond in kind. She loves human company and her adopter will soon become the centre of her world. Her coat is similar to that of a West Highland White Terrier and will need to be brushed and combed regularly. If you prefer a tidier look, she would look fabulous after a visit to a grooming salon. She has kept her kennel clean and has not been destructive with bedding or toys.

Poppy came to us from a dog pound, so has no past history.

Re-homing Criteria

Poppy can live with a single person, couple or family. We feel that she can cope with children aged 8 or over, provided that their parents make sure that Poppy is treated respectfully. Since human company is important to her, she should not be left alone for long periods of time. Her adopter should be reasonably active and enjoy walks. Although Poppy is happy to go for walks with dogs of any size and either sex, we feel if she was to live with another dog it would need to be a neutered male as her occasional feisty terrier nature may clash with a female.
