Just a few lines as promised to let you know that Patch has settled in well. He simply lay down with the other dogs in the back of the car on the way home. Once home he went round the garden leaving his scent on every square inch of it! I thought that didn't bode well for what would happen in the house!! However I kept a close watch on him for the first day and had only 3 small trickles to clean up. He has been clean since then - amazing considering he hadn't lived indoors.
As the attached photos show, he has forgotten that he liked to lie on a hard surface. After the first night he discovered the comfort of sleeping on a chair or sofa.
All 3 of the dogs get on really well. He gets on well with the other dogs that exercise in the field behind the cottage too. One morning there were 10 of them all running together. He has had one or two minor spats with a red setter but it didn't amount to more than raised hackles and a bit of snarling - soon sorted out.
His coat is improving. He was shampood a couple of days after coming home and there is still some left so I will do him again this weekend. He mostly comes back when called but sometimes I use a whistle to get his attention when he is a distance away.
He is a very friendly and affectionate dog and likes a lot of attention. I will need to work on stopping him from jumping up.
