Blue is a lovable old chap who walks well on lead. He enjoys his walks, playing in water and loves food! Blue is currently on a diet though as he can’t resist a biscuit! Blue travels well in the car and copes well at the vets. He has lived with children in the past but likes his own space and he has snapped at children previously. Blue has never lived with cats and his previous owner said he has been known to chase them. Blue is affectionate but he does also like his space. He doesn’t like traffic or loud noises and will lunge at moving cars and motorbikes. Blue is house trained and good in the car.
Blue was originally brought into the centre almost 9 years ago as a rescue from a pound. He was quickly adopted and his family had him for over 8 years. Unfortunately, due to changes in circumstance they had to make the very difficult decision to rehome him. They felt he would do better in a home without young children. Blue was adopted in Dec 2018 but unfortunately his traffic chasing proved too much for his owner.
Blue requires an owner who has experience with collies who chase cars. When blue is fixated on the moving vehicles, he can redirect and snap so potential adopters must take this into consideration. Ideally, Blue would suit a rural home away from busy roads. He needs space from other animals and will not tolerate children. We are looking for an owner who can help him with recall training. Blue loves his walks so is looking for a relatively active home with an owner who understands he wants a companion, but likes his own space now and again. He is looking for someone who is home most of the day as he struggles with separation anxiety.
