Now that Molly trusts us, she is affectionate and loves her walks. It does however take her quite a while to adjust to new environments and is not comfortable with strangers so perhaps she has not encountered many new places or people and lacks some confidence. Molly is very excited by toys and can become very vocal and over the top when playing. She needs guidance learning to snatch toys and learn some self-control when playing. For this reason and given her nervous nature, we feel she may not be suited to a home with children. Molly appears quite sociable with other dog on initial meeting, however she did snap at a small male dog who was sniffing her.
Molly was brought into us by a member of the public who told us she had been hanging around their garden for a day or two. She appeared very friendly and comfortable with them, but when she was left and Molly was on her own in the kennels, she became very anxious and scared. It was obvious she was very worried and not comfortable with close contact. It took a few days of very gentle, soft reassurance to help her feel comfortable. Molly was not micro-chipped or had no ID tag on her collar so we have no history on her real name or age.
We can’t guarantee how Molly would respond near cats as we have no history on her experience with them. Molly is looking for a committed owner who understands that Staffie types can become very full on when playing. She will snap if she feels scared or threatened so an adult only home is advised. We are looking for an owner who understands the needs of nervous dogs. Molly may need help with house training.
